25 Small Ways To Improve Your Life - Week 6 - Stop Wasting Time

Have you finished the previous week's goals on how to improve your life? If not, just keep at it.. you will get there.. I am not finished either, but I try to work on it everyday. During this process, I have found one of the things that I need to work on most is this week's topic... Identifying the things that drain our time and limiting the amount of time we spend on these activities.

Do you get to the end of the day, or the end of the week, and wonder where the time went? Do you feel like you are just spinning your wheels and never getting the things done you need to? I know I feel that way all the time! It is not uncommon to look back on our lives and regret the things we didn't accomplish. Somehow we end up spending time in ways we never planned on. Much of that time is spent on time drainers.

An example of this, is the amount of time you spend watching television. Limit that time to 1.5 - 2 hours (or less) per day... I know, that seems like not much, but just think how much you can get done if you do this...

Along those same lines is limiting the time you spend on social networks.. The same rules should apply to social networks as TV.. You will be amazed how much time you will have at the end of the day if you can master this.

It is amazing how often we allow ourselves to get distracted by TV, social media, and even other people. To help to not get distracted, create a schedule and stick to it. Don't allow yourself to get sidetracked with these time drainers.

Bottom line, CHOOSE to not waste time. Everyday, have the intention to appreciate every moment of time you have and use it wisely.

Sheila, yes I can relate to your observation of "time". I spend most morning getting my comments out of the way on AR because it's very time consuming. Social media should only be a small part of our time and yes less time watching TV would be nice.

Interesting question Sheila, Do you get to the end of the day, or the end of the week, and wonder where the time went?

Fridays are generally a disappointment as I realize how many things did not get accomplished that I wanted to get accomplished.

Thx Sheila.  Yes, there are times where I wonder where the heck did my day go?  And, some of those days it's because of this...I've wasted time.  Good tips.

Hi Sheila~ Time vampires get me. I'm so easily distracted. Plus I get caught up in "busy work" because it makes me feel like I'm doing something, but it's generally not productive.
