I have always loved dragonflies... I started collecting dragonfly "stuff" like wind chimes and sun catchers years ago... I even have some dragonfly jewelry now.... Recently i decided i needed to do something "out there" and different... something that I wouldn't normally do...I needed a change in my life and so I decided, "What better way to symbolize this than to get a dragonfly tattoo!!!" Now, that may not seem very daring to some people, but for me, that was a HUGE thing...I have never had a tattoo...I have always been the conformer...I have always done the "right " thing and I have always been the "good girl..." However, when a woman hits her mid 40's, something changes...I needed a symbol that showed that I was a different person than I had been...and dragonflies are a symbol of rebirth...or a renewal after a great hardship or loss. The rising up, the achieving of goals, and strength after hardship...these are all symbolized by the dragonfly...
So...I did it. Without telling anyone I was going to do it, I went to visit my daughter in California, and while there, I got a dragonfly tattoo... (and yes it hurts to get a tattoo)...I got it just above my right ankle...and I love it...In fact, now that I have my first, I may get another...(I had always heard that they were addictive) That is probably the wildest thing I have ever done. (I know...I have lived a sheltered life!)
But now I'm INKED!!!
Thankfully, my husband loves it and so do my kids...wanna see it? Here it is.....
